A traditional Piu Sik parade, or "Floating Colors", is back to Yuangang village in suburban Guangzhou after a seven-year hiatus as children dressing up as various characters were hoisted up to celebrate the seventh day of Chinese New Year.
Surrounded by clusters of onlookers holding up phones to take photos, children standing on steel frames cruise through streets with costumes and makeup featuring deities in Chinese folks, and characters from literature classics like Journey to the West and Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
This traditional folk art is commonly seen in South China areas and often serves as a celebratory performance for festive occasions.
China Daily’s Parker Zheng took the photos on Friday.
