HONG KONG - Hong Kong on Friday reported no new COVID-19 cases for the first time since May 30 as the city’s infection tally remained at 11,874 with 210 related deaths.
Starting Friday, local teenagers aged 12 to 15 can book BioNTech vaccine shots online and get jabs at the city’s 24 community vaccination centers as early as Monday.
Education chief Kevin Yeung Yun-hung said a day earlier that full-day classes could be resumed when 70 or 80 percent of a school’s teachers and students have been vaccinated.
As of Thursday, some 1.6 million residents have received at least one vaccine shot, while about 1.15 million people had been fully vaccinated, accounting for about 18 percent of the city’s population aged 16 or above.
