HONG KONG – Sinopec (Hong Kong) Ltd opened on Monday a 600 kilowatt (kW) supercharging station in Kowloon Bay, marking the first conversion of a traditional petrol station into a dedicated high-speed electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Hong Kong.

The station at 8 Kai Fuk Road, formerly a gas station, offers 20 direct current (DC) fast-charging bays equipped with five 600kW charging units featuring intelligent power distribution.

All bays can deliver over 100kW even when fully occupied, while 30 percent of the bays use liquid-cooled technology, enabling compatible 800V vehicles to charge from 20 percent to 80 percent in approximately 10 minutes.

To enhance the charging experience, the station incorporates immersive sci-fi visuals and leisure amenities, including a coffee bar, Hong Kong-style snacks, and gacha and claw machines.

The station is offering a promotional rate of HK$1.68 per kWh and free parking during the opening period.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Secretary for Environment and Ecology Tse Chin-wan, alongside legislators Chan Hak-kan and Chan Han-pan, and other dignitaries.

Sinopec also introduced an AI robot for guests to experience the station’s modern services.

Tse praised Sinopec’s role in Hong Kong’s green transport transition, including the city’s first public hydrogen station in 2024 and a previous fast-charging station in May 2026.

“These efforts have provided solid support for achieving zero-emission vehicles by 2050, aligning with the national ‘dual-carbon’ goals, and advancing the green transformation and sustainable development of energy and industries,” Tse said.

Wu Qinggao, Director and General Manager of Sinopec (Hong Kong) Ltd, said the station “redefines urban EV charging” by combining fast charging, modern design, digital art, and lifestyle amenities, supporting Hong Kong’s zero-emission vehicle goal by 2050.
