9m passengers to pass through HK during festive period

HONG KONG - The Immigration Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government estimated on Thursday that around 9.03 million passengers will pass through Hong Kong's sea, land and air control points during the upcoming Qingming and Easter festive period on April 1-10.

According to data from the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Hong Kong saw about 1.46 million visitors in February 2023, exceeding the monthly one-million mark for the first time since February 2020

Among them, about 83.5 percent, or around 7.54 million passengers, will pass through land control points, the Immigration Department said.

The department estimated that there will be around 2.2 million passengers traveling via the Lo Wu Control Point during the festive period, with a daily average of about 220,000 passengers.

Also, the passenger traffic at the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line and Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Control Point will also be heavy, with a daily average of about 147,000 and 138,000 passengers, respectively.
