CBA: Qingdao thrashes Tianjin, Xinjiang overcomes Jiangsu

ZHUJI, China - Dakari Johnson collected a double-double with 29 points and 15 rebounds, helping the Qingdao Eagles smash the Tianjin Pioneers 134-93, while the Xinjiang Flying Tigers beat the Jiangsu Dragons 119-88 in the CBA here on Thursday.

Five Qingdao players scored in double-digits, led by Darius Adams, who notched a game-high 41 points. Tianjin's Jin Xin scored 18 points.

Qingdao made a good opening with a 10-0 run in the first quarter, and ended the first half by 62-44 thanks to 21 points from Adams, with Johnson adding 18 points and grabbing nine rebounds.

Qingdao completely controlled the game in the second half to put the rest of the game into garbage time, forcing the Tianjin Pioneers to swallow a second consecutive loss.

Zhou Qi scored 20 points and grabbed 17 rebounds while Donatas Motiejunas added 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, helping Xinjiang overcome Jiangsu before the All-Star games.

Xinjiang staged the game at a fast pace with Zhou Qi on fire, scoring 14 points in the first half. Jiangsu rallied with a few answer balls to avoid a rout, trailing by 62-46 at half-time.

Xinjiang went on a 13-2 run in the third quarter to establish a 22-point lead into the last quarter, and despite Motiejunas's best efforts, Jiangsu were unable to turn the tide.

"We have a very good team and we are gradually on the right track," Xinjiang's head coach Adiljan said after the game.

In other games on Thursday, the Zhejiang Golden Bulls edged the Sichuan Blue Whales 103-99, the Fujian Sturgeons enjoyed a big win over the Shanxi Loongs 135-119, and the Beijing Ducks beat the Shanghai Sharks 104-94.
