In recent months, there has been a surge in sightings as bears emerge from hibernation, resulting in a series of bear-related incidents across the country.

On Thursday night, a 73-year-old local woman in Iwate Prefecture, also in northeastern Japan, suffered injuries after being attacked by a bear outside a barn where she had milked some cows.
