WASHINGTON – US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Sunday met with visiting Lebanese President Joseph Aoun over the implementation of a trilateral framework involving Lebanon and Israel, the US State Department said.

Israel and Lebanon reached a framework in late June to pave the way for a peace accord. However, Israel has continued striking targets in Lebanon since then.

Lebanon's Health Ministry said that as of July 7, Israeli strikes had killed 4,320 people and injured 12,203 others since fighting resumed on March 2.
