China slams US for labeling Chinese companies as supporting military
By Zhang Yunbi

Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian has criticized the United States for adding several Chinese companies to a list of entities supporting China's military, urging the US to correct its erroneous practices.

According to US media, the US Defense Department recently added several major Chinese companies, including Alibaba, Baidu and BYD to a list of entities it says support China's military.

Speaking at a daily news briefing in Beijing on Tuesday, Lin said, "China has consistently and firmly opposed the US overstretching the concept of national security, its creation of various discriminatory lists under different pretexts, and its' unreasonable suppression targeting Chinese companies."

"We urge the US to correct its erroneous practices and stop its unreasonable suppression of Chinese enterprises," he said.

China will take necessary measures to resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises, he added.
