Baiyun fashion show spotlights Guangzhou’s style, aviation clout
By Wang Zhan

A fashion show celebrating Guangzhou’s culture and vibrancy was held at Terminal 3 (T3) of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on Thursday night, highlighting the city’s prowess in the fashion industry and its status as an aviation hub.

The show featured works by award-winning haute couture designer Deng Zhaoping and collections from five homegrown brands based in the Guangzhou Baima Garment Market.

Beloved mascots of the 15th National Games, Xi Yangyang and Le Rongrong — characters inspired by the Chinese white dolphin but affectionately nicknamed “Dawan (Greater Bay) Chicken” by fans — danced at the event.

Cantonese opera actress Wu Feifan led an excerpt of the neo-Cantonese opera Kapok in Full Bloom, infusing the traditional art form with a contemporary voice.

A clothing and garment powerhouse, Guangzhou boasts an annual output value exceeding 100 billion yuan ($14.4 billion), accounting for 16.8 percent of national production.

As a vital window for "Guangdong Goods Going Global," Baiyun airport handled over 83 million passengers and more than 2.4 million tons of cargo and mail in 2025, solidifying its role as a key aviation hub linking the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to the world.

The concourse of T3, which officially started operation in last October, aims to become an important gateway showcasing Guangzhou to travelers.
