HONG KONG - Hong Kong saw the volume of its total exports of goods increase by 7.6 percent in the first half of 2024 over the same period last year, official data showed on Tuesday.
The volume of the special administrative region’s total imports of goods also rose by 3.7 percent year-on-year during the same period, according to the Census and Statistics Department.
The department said the prices of total exports of goods and imports of goods increased by 4.2 percent and 3.8 percent, respectively.

Comparing the second quarter of 2024 with the preceding quarter on a seasonally adjusted basis, the volume of exports and imports of goods went up by 1.7 percent and 0.4 percent, respectively.
In June, the volume of Hong Kong's exports and imports rose by 6.8 percent and 5.6 percent, respectively, from the same period in 2023.
According to the C&SD, increases were recorded in the total volume of the territory’s exports to the United States (32.9 percent), Vietnam (31.0 percent), Taiwan region (28.8 percent) and the Chinese mainland (6.8 percent). A decrease of 21 percent was recorded for exports to India.

Total exports prices also rose for the US market (6.8 percent), the mainland (4.6 percent), Taiwan region (4.1 percent) and Vietnam (1.0 percent), the department added.
