BEIJING - The reigning champions, Wuhan Three Towns, edged past Changchun Yatai with a 2-1 victory on Saturday, marking its first home win in the 2023 Chinese Super League.
Changchun striker Tan Long saw a goal disallowed in the first half due to offside. The stalemate was broken by Davidson for Wuhan in the 68th minute via a penalty kick, only for Wang Jinxian to equalize three minutes later.
Wuhan's victory was finally secured in the 85th minute by Ghanaian striker Abdul-Aziz Yakubu, who scored through another penalty.

"I am very excited that I can help the team get three points. Today's win is very important to us," Yakubu stated.

In other matches on Saturday, Beijing Guoan routed Shenzhen FC with a commanding 5-0 scoreline, and league leaders Shanghai Port ended in a 1-1 stalemate at home against Dalian Pro.
