Missing woman found dead in Tsim Sha Tsui hotel

HONG KONG – A 23-year-old woman who reportedly went missing on Wednesday was found dead in a hotel room in Tsim Sha Tsui a day later, police said.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the suspected murder of the woman.

Police received a report from the man at 8:50 pm on Thursday that he had assaulted a woman in a hotel room on Austin Road West.

Initial investigation suggests the deceased had been attacked by the man with a knife, which was seized by police

Reaching the scene, police officers found the woman unconscious in a bathroom with multiple injuries, according to a government press release. She was certified dead at scene, it added.

Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain her cause of death.

On Thursday morning, police received a report from the woman’s family that she had gone missing after leaving her residence on Hoi Tan Street, Sham Shui Po on Wednesday afternoon.

The Yau Tsim District Crime Squad is conducting an investigation.
