PYONGYANG - Kim Jong-un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), on Saturday visited a combined unit under the mechanized infantry division of the Korean People's Army in the western area, on the occasion of the founding anniversary of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said Sunday.
On the same day, Kim also oversaw a firing contest of mortarmen from light infantry units under large combined units, KCNA said in another report on Sunday.
The DPRK leader extended his warm encouragement to the country's armed forces, and instructed the military force to stage training contests "in a more intensive and competitive way," the KCNA report said.
