BEIJING - China has again called on all parties to immediately halt military operations and avoid further escalation of tensions to prevent regional instability from exerting an even greater impact on global economy, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Monday.

Lin made the remarks at a regular news briefing when asked to comment on US remarks concerning China regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

Recently, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and its adjacent waters has been tense, disrupting international cargo and energy trade routes and undermining regional and global peace and stability, Lin said.

China has maintained communication with all parties regarding the current situation and is committed to promoting the de-escalation of tensions, he added.
