HONG KONG - Roads and streets flooded with rainwater, passing cars splashing water on pedestrians, people wading through rainwater, braving the heavy rains and gusts - these were the common scenes in Hong Kong during the downpours on Tuesday.
The black rainstorm warning signal has been issued since the morning, bringing over 100 millimeters of rainfall across the city.
In special weather tips released early on Tuesday, the Hong Kong Observatory said areas of intense thundery showers associated with active southwest monsoon and upper-air disturbances continue to affect Hong Kong and the vicinity of the Pearl River Estuary.
The weather would remain unsettled on Wednesday, with heavy showers at times, said the city's weather forecaster.
China Daily's photographer Andy Chong and Edmond Tang took the photos.
