WUYUAN, China - Shanghai smashed Huangshi 3-0, while Tianjin and Baoding also got opening wins in the 2022-23 Chinese men's Volleyball Super League here on Saturday.
Despite getting into the match slowly, Shanghai didn't concede a single set to Huangshi, as the season's opener ended 25-21, 25-15 and 25-14 in Shanghai's favor.
Shanghai's Bartosz Bednorz scored a game-high 14 points, while Cai Xiaotian led Huangshi with 10 points
But Shanghai's opening win was marred by injuries of their two key players, Dai Qinyao and Giulio Sabbi.

Tianjin bounced back from the first set loss to edge Shandong 3-2 (18-25, 25-16, 22-25, 25-23, 15-13).
Shandong's Wang Jingyi got a game-high 28 points, with his teammates Li Lei and Zhai Dejun adding 18 apiece. But it was not enough to stop Tianjin as Shandong players conceded too many errors.
Du Haixiang scored a team-high 17 points for Tianjin.

Also on Saturday, Baoding overpowered Jiangsu in a five-set thriller 31-33, 26-24, 25-21, 19-25, 17-15.
