130 COVID-19 cases found in four ‘restricted areas’

HONG KONG – The Hong Kong government detected 130 COVID-19 cases as it completed compulsory testing exercises in four “restricted areas” in Pok Fu Lam, Sham Shui Po, Lai Chi Kok and Sha Tin on Friday.

The government made restriction-testing declarations on Thursday to cover Wah King House of Wah Fu (II) Estate in Pok Fu Lam, Chak Tin House of Pak Tin Estate in Sham Shui Po, 1-3 Mount Sterling Mall at Mei Foo Sun Chuen Phase 7 in Lai Chi Kok, and Pok Yat House of Pok Hong Estate in Sha Tin, after the coronavirus was detected in sewage discharged from these blocks.

At Wah King House where about 1,300 people took the testing, 52 positive COVID-19 cases and four indeterminate cases were detected.

Another 11 positive cases were identified at Chak Tin House, after 543 people had been tested.

A total of 277 people were tested at 1-3 Mount Sterling Mall, where 10 people were found positive for the virus.

At Pok Yat House, 57 out of 1,544 people tested positive. There were also 19 indeterminate cases.

The Centre for Health Protection will follow up on the cases, the government added.
