107 COVID-19 cases found in three restricted areas

HONG KONG – The Hong Kong government detected 107 COVID-19 cases as it completed compulsory testing exercises for three restricted areas in Tsuen Wan, Tai Po and Fanling on Tuesday.

The government made restriction-testing declarations on Monday to cover Chung Shue House of Lei Muk Shue (II) Estate in Tsuen Wan, Kwong Yan House of Kwong Fuk Estate in Tai Po and Cheung Chi House of Cheung Wah Estate in Fanling after the coronavirus was detected in sewage discharged from these blocks.

At Chung Shue House, 1,048 people took the testing and 14 of them tested positive for the virus, the government said.

For Kwong Yan House where 1,254 people were tested, 40 positive cases and 27 indeterminate cases were identified.

A total of 1,489 people were tested at Cheung Chi House, where 53 preliminary positive cases were detected, while 21 cases were indeterminate.

The Centre for Health Protection will follow up on the cases, the government added.
