2 preliminary positive cases found in To Kwa Wan

HONG KONG – Health authorities of Hong Kong found two preliminary positive COVID-19 cases during an overnight targeted testing operation in To Kwa Wan area of the city on Tuesday.

The government locked down buildings at No. 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31, 33 and 35 on Hung Kwong Street at 8:30 pm. Two of the around 190 people tested had been found preliminarily positive for the novel coronavirus by 11:30 pm.

Government staff visited around 65 households in the restricted area, among which around 10 households did not answer the door. Those may include some households undergoing quarantine or isolation, according to a government press release.

Meanwhile, a compulsory testing notice was issued on Tuesday night, requiring people who had spent more than two hours in these buildings from Jan 19 to 25 to get tested on or before Jan 27.

Overnight testing operations were also carried out in Sham Shui Po, which has not found any positive case.

A compulsory testing exercise started at Wai Chun House, 24-26 Un Chau Street, Sham Shui Po at 8 pm Tuesday night and ended around 7 am on Wednesday. People who had been present at the building for more than two hours from Jan 20 to 25 have to get tested on or before Jan 27.
