No new virus cases found in Tsing Yi, Sham Shui Po testing

HONG KONG - More than 1,600 residents of Tsing Yi and Sham Shui Po underwent tests during overnight targeted testing operations but no new COVID-19 cases were found.

The government said that 1,184 residents were tested as of 1 am Sunday at the “restricted area” set up in Wang Sin House, Cheung Wang Estate, 9 Liu To Road, Tsing Yi but the results were all negative.

There were also 422 persons tested at Tung Moon House, Tai Hang Tung Estate, 83 Tai Hang Tung Road, Sham Shui Po but no new infection was detected.

The targeted testing operation was conducted in Wang Sin House after a 41-year-old female resident tested preliminarily positive for the virus.

The patient is a cargo aircraft cabin cleaner at the Hong Kong International Airport and last went to work on Jan 14. She has taken two vaccine jabs and is asymptomatic.

On the other hand, a restricted area was set  up at Tung Moon House on Saturday night after a 43-year-old female resident also tested preliminarily positive.

She arrived in Hong Kong on Dec 20, 2021 from Pakistan  and tested negative at the airport. She underwent quarantine at Silka Seaview Hotel Hong Kong in Yau Ma Tei and also tested negative during the six times that she underwent compulsory testing there.

She went home on Jan 10 after completing her quarantine. On Jan 14, she underwent another test at a community testing center and tested preliminarily positive.

The government said 12 households did not answer the door in Tung Moon House while 39 in Wang Sin House also did not reply. The government said it will take measures to follow up the matter.
