Nearly 550,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses given in HK

HONG KONG - About 544,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines has been given to Hong Kong residents since the city's vaccination program began on Feb 26. 

About 323,800 people had received their first dose of the Sinovac vaccine while about 68,900 people were already given the required second dose. About 151,300 people had received the BioNTech vaccine, according to a government statement issued on Saturday night.

They included 3,300 who received the jab at eight community vaccination centers (CVCs), while about 300 were inoculated at private doctors and clinics participating in the program.

The overall percentage of people who received the Sinovac vaccine at CVCs is about 96 percent.

As of 8 pm Saturday, about 3,200 people had reserved their first and second doses of the Sinovac vaccine online, while about 42,300 had reserved their first and second doses of the BioNTech vaccine.

Hong Kong reported two new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, pushing the city's overall infection tally to 11,501.
