Zhejiang beats Liaoning, Guangzhou edges Fujian in CBA

ZHUJI, China - After knocking down the Liaoning Flying Leopards by 10 points in their first game of the third phase of this regular season, the Zhejiang Lions beat their opponents 109-102 once again in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Friday.

In other action, the Guangzhou Loong Lions edged the Fujian Sturgeons 118-115

Zhejiang made a good opening with an eight-point lead in the first quarter, and ended the first half by 51-37 thanks to 19 points from Zhao Yanhao, with Hu Jinqiu adding 12 points.

Zhejiang continued the lead in the third quarter, and Liaoning fought back hard to cut the gap by 10 points, yet still failed to turn the table around, losing the hope for a three-streak win, after overcoming Guangdong and Sichuan.

Han Dejun notched a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Zhao Jiwei also added 12 points and 13 assists to pace Liaoning. Zhao Yanhao scored a game-high 32 points to lead Zhejiang, with Sun Minghui notching the team's only double-double of 17 points and 12 assists.

In other action, the Guangzhou Loong Lions edged the Fujian Sturgeons 118-115, again with a six-point victory in their first game of this regular season, with Dallas Moore contributing a game-high 34 points, and Isaac Haas notching the game's only double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Guangzhou and Fujian played tit for tat throughout and levelled at 106-106 to enter the overtime, where the two teams tied twice, until Chen Yingjun scored a three pointer and two penalties to help Guangzhou seal the victory.

Friday also saw the Guangdong Southern Tigers overcome the Qingdao Eagles 120-104, with Guangdong's Marshon Brooks taking the game's MVP award with a game-high 37 points and 18 rebounds.
