Targeted testing in Yuen Long, Ma On Shan completed

HONG KONG - Some 1,000 residents were tested for COVID-19 during targeted testing operations in Yuen Long and Ma On Shan overnight, according to statements issued by the Hong Kong government on Saturday. 

Two people in Ma On Shan flouted compulsory testing orders and were each fined HK$5,000 (US$645)

No one tested positive during the latest “ambush-style” operations, which ended at around 7 pm Saturday. 

The two operations began at around 7 pm Friday as the government cordoned off Fu Loy Garden in Yuen Long and Heng Kong House at Heng On Estate in Ma On Shan.

A total of 1,033 people were tested during the operations. 

According to government statements, about 100 households did not answer the door when officers came to verify whether their residents had been tested. Two people in Ma On Shan flouted compulsory testing orders and were each fined HK$5,000 (US$645).

The government earlier said there would be more targeted testing operations before Feb 10 to ensure that the city’s fourth wave of infections could be gradually controlled after the Lunar New Year holidays.
