HK stocks climb to 1-year closing high on upbeat data

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region stocks closed higher on Monday at a one-year high, as investors cheered data pointing to China’s solid economic recovery in 2020.

At the close of trade, the Hang Seng index was up 1.01 percent at 28,862.77, its highest close since Jan 17, 2020. The Hang Seng China Enterprises index rose 1.25 percent to 11,462.52.

The sub-index of the Hang Seng tracking energy shares rose 1.3 percent, while the IT sector climbed 2.95 percent, the financial sector ended 0.06 percent lower and the property sector rose 0.54 percent.

The top gainer on the Hang Seng was Sunny Optical Technology Group Co Ltd, which rose 7.45 percent, while the biggest loser was HSBC Holdings PLC, which fell 2.1 percent.
