HONG KONG - Hong Kong reported 98 new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, including 89 locally transmitted ones, bringing the city’s tally to 7,721.

Thirty of the new infections were untraceable, Chuang Shuk-kwan of the Centre for Health Protection said at a press briefing in the afternoon.

The city’s total number of coronavirus-related deaths stood at 122

Three more patients have died, bringing the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in the financial hub to 123. 

A 79-year-old man died at Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Monday afternoon and a 64-year-old female patient passed away at Eastern Hospital on Tuesday afternoon, said Hospital Authority’s Chief Manager Linda Yu said at the same press briefing. 

A third patient - a 77-year-old woman - died at Princess Margaret Hospital at around 5 pm Tuesday, according to a statement issued by the Hospital Authority.

Chuang said there were more than 70 people who tested preliminarily positive for the coronavirus.

Eight new patients have once lodged at a dormitory for foreign domestic helpers at Fung Nin Building in Tai Po, Chuang said. The cluster has so far affected 10 patients. At least 30 people who have stayed in the dormitory would be quarantined.

The government also issued a mandatory coronavirus testing order for anyone who has stayed in the dorm for more than two hours at any time during the past month.

A total of 1,126 confirmed patients are currently hospitalized in public hospitals and a community treatment facility, including 50 in critical condition, the Hospital Authority said.
