HONG KONG – Two young men were produced before a court in Hong Kong on Wednesday in connection with the death of a 70-year-old man, who was hit in the head by a brick hurled by a black clad protester in Sheung Shui in November.

Addressing a press briefing, Senior Superintendent of New Territories North Regional Headquarters Chan Tin-chu, said three men and as many women, aged between 15 and 18, have been arrested so far for their roles in the death. Five of them are underage.
Some more people can be arrested in connection with the incident, said Chan. He called on residents to help police with useful information, saying that a reward of HK$800,000 is still in effect.
It is harrowing that more young people violate the law by resorting to serious violence, he said.

Police strongly denounce all violent offenders, especially those who incite young people to carry out violent crimes, he said. Police will show no tolerance to any crimes and will bring offenders to justice, he stressed.
On Nov 13 last year, a group of black-clad rioters set up roadblocks in Sheung Shui and clashed with residents who tried to clear the road, throwing iron rods, bricks and other hard objects at them.
The victim, an outsourced worker of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, was hit in the head by a brick at one stage. Knocked down to the ground, he fell unconscious and died the following day.
