China's Sheng Lihao and Wang Zifei successfully defended their 10-meter air rifle mixed team title at the ISSF World Championships here on Wednesday, leading a Chinese one-two finish as Sheng claimed his second gold medal in as many days.

The defending champions scored 506.1 points in the final to finish 1.7 points ahead of compatriots Du Yuchen and Zhang Changhong. South Korea's Ban Hyo-jin and Park Ha-jun took bronze with 440.1 points.

The South Korean pair had topped qualification with 634.4 points, ahead of Sheng and Wang in second and Du and Zhang in third.

In the final, Sheng and Wang moved into the lead after the opening 10 shots and never relinquished it. Du and Zhang briefly narrowed the gap after 30 shots, but the defending champions responded with a strong series to pull clear and secure the title.

The victory gave Sheng his third consecutive world title in the mixed team event, following gold medals alongside Huang Yuting in Baku in 2023 and Wang in Cairo in 2025.

It was also the 21-year-old's second gold in two days after he won his first individual 10m air rifle world title on Tuesday, completing a sweep of major international titles in the discipline.

Asked whether defending the mixed team title had brought additional pressure, Sheng said: "I didn't feel much pressure."

Wang said she was focused on continuing her development.

"I look forward to continuing to improve and achieving better results. I hope to become a better version of myself in every competition," she said.

Zhang, who partnered Du to silver at the ISSF World Cup in Hangzhou earlier this year, acknowledged that he had not been at his best but was pleased with his performance in qualification.

"I'd like to thank my partner. We worked together and really enjoyed the competition," he said.

In the men's 25m rapid fire pistol final, Germany's Florian Peter won gold with 33 hits, edging France's Clement Bessaguet by one hit. Bessaguet's compatriot Jean Quiquampoix took bronze with 26 hits.

Peter, a bronze medalist at the 2023 World Championships and winner of that year's World Cup Final in Doha, also secured an Olympic quota place for Germany.

"When I knew I had the opportunity to become world champion, I was getting really excited again and my heart was beating like crazy," Peter said.

The championships continue through November 13, with the men's and women's 10m air pistol finals scheduled for Thursday.
