
China's National Day holiday saw strong demand for smart, green and health-related products, while the consumer goods trade-in program generated 33.48 billion yuan ($4.99 billion) in sales during the first six days of the break, the Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.
Data from the ministry showed that sales of embodied AI robots on major platforms surged 130 percent year-on-year from Oct 1 to 6, while smart glasses sales doubled.
During the same period, sales of water-saving devices rose 18.1 percent year-on-year, while those of assistive exoskeletons and outdoor sports equipment increased 12.8 percent and 10.4 percent, respectively, the data showed.

The trade-in program also supported spending on major consumer goods. According to the ministry, automobile trade-ins totaled 68,000 vehicles, generating 10.92 billion yuan in new car sales during the period.
Home appliance trade-ins reached 2.848 million units, generating 12.34 billion yuan in sales, while purchases of digital and smart products totaled 3.052 million units, worth 8.68 billion yuan, ministry figures showed.

Meanwhile, sales at 78 pedestrian shopping streets and commercial districts monitored by the ministry rose 4.7 percent year-on-year, while foot traffic increased 2.5 percent, according to its monitoring data.
The ministry said the consumer market remained generally stable throughout the seven-day holiday, with ample supplies of daily necessities and stable prices. Its monitoring of 200 large agricultural wholesale markets showed grain and fruit prices were largely unchanged from Sept 30, while egg, vegetable and pork prices edged down.
