The National Day Raceday 2026 opened on Thursday at Hong Kong's Sha Tin Racecourse with music from three renowned Chinese tenors and an elite acrobatic troupe from Central China's Hebei province performing an acrobatic act that is considered as part the nation's intangible cultural heritage.

Celebrating the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the flagship raceday featured a rendition of patriotic songs by renowned tenors Dai Yuqiang, Warren Mok, and Wei Song, accompanied by the Hong Kong Police Band.

Members of the China Cangzhou Acrobatic Group also presented the Zhongfan, a flagpole acrobatic performance, during the opening ceremony.

The event, organized by The Hong Kong Jockey Club, drew crowds of local residents and visitors who enjoyed an 11-race card alongside the cultural highlights.

China Daily's Andy Chong took the photos.
