A new chapter in the expansion journey of Hong Kong Disneyland (HKDL) was unveiled – bringing guests a first look at exclusive Pixar and Marvel-themed experiences coming to the resort – at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event held in Anaheim, California, from Aug 14 to16.
From an all-new Pixar theatrical spectacular debuting in Toy Story Land in the first half of 2027 to a major expansion of the Marvel-themed area anchored by an Avengers attraction, the additions continue to reinforce HKDL as a destination where Disney stories come to life through immersive experiences created exclusively for Hong Kong, according to a press release.
In collaboration with Pixar Animation Studios, HKDL is building an all-new emotional adventure for guests, introducing Poppy, an original Pixar character created for the show.
“Through beloved Pixar characters, guests will experience an emotional adventure that explores how meaningful friendships are built, nurtured, and celebrated over time,” said Michael Serna, executive creative director of Disney Live Entertainment.
As for the Marvel-themed park, the development plans will also feature a brand-new Quinjet landing platform and a new Pavilion at Stark Expo, a striking new landmark at the heart of the expansion.
As early as May, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law Shuk-pui revealed news of the development plans at a Legislative Council meeting.
In addition to the upcoming Pixar theatrical spectacular, she said the new Marvel-themed area will be completed in 2028-29 and will be the world's largest Marvel park.
Law said the park has available land for expansion and has performed well economically.

HKDL recorded a net profit of HK$536 million ($68.4 million) in the fiscal year 2025, setting several records. Besides clearing its outstanding loan, the park’s total attendance for the year reached 7.5 million, with average spending per guest rising 2 percent year-on-year. It was also the park’s second year in a row in profit following nine year’s of losses.
