Typhoon Noul batters HK

Gale-force winds and squally showers battered Hong Kong as Typhoon Noul made landfall in Guangdong on Sunday morning.

The Hong Kong Observatory raised the No 9 typhoon signal at 1:10 am before donwgrading it to the No 8 Gale or Storm Signal at 7:10 am, adding that the warning signal would stay in force until 12:40 pm.

According to the Hospital Authority, nine people – five males and four females – were injured during the typhoon and received medical treatment at public hospitals.
