Thai, Cambodian PMs urge peaceful, lasting solutions to border conflict

HANOI - Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on Tuesday called for enhanced efforts to address disputes between the two countries.

Addressing the ASEAN Future Forum in Hanoi, Anutin said that both countries are at an important crossroads and need to work together to overcome challenges facing the bilateral ties.

Calling for a new chapter in the relations with Cambodia through trust, confidence and good-faith dialogue, Anutin stressed that political will and resolve are essential to achieving peaceful and lasting solutions, expressing confidence that the goal is achievable despite difficulties.

For his part, Hun Manet said at the event that the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand continues to hold but remains fragile, calling on both sides to fully, effectively and urgently implement the joint statement of December 27, 2025.

Hun Manet stressed that sovereignty and territorial integrity must not be altered by force or coercion, while reaffirming both sides' commitment to transforming the existing ceasefire into permanent conditions.
