A concert celebrating the New Year and the rich heritage of Chinese instrumental music is scheduled for Friday evening, promising an enchanting experience for attendees.

The 2026 New Year Guzheng Concert is designed to spotlight the guzheng, a traditional Chinese instrument renowned as the ancestor of various Asian zithers with roots dating back to ancient times.

The performance will feature members of the Hong Kong Guzheng Society alongside musicians from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Organized at the Hong Kong City Hall Theatre, the program will present a diverse array of compositions, ranging from classics to contemporary favorites, showcasing the evolution and enduring legacy of guzheng music and culture.

Founded in 2024, the Hong Kong Guzheng Society strives to foster a passion for guzheng music among younger generations, providing educational and training opportunities to nurture new talent in this art form.
