Commissioner's office summons consulate reps over Jimmy Lai case

The Commissioner’s Office of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has summoned representatives of consulates general, including those from the United States and the United Kingdom, urging them to abide by international law and stop interfering in the case of media mogul Jimmy Lai Chee-ying.

According to its official website, the commissioner's office on Dec 17 and 18 summoned the representatives, alongside others speaking for a range of organizations in the city.

The office lodged solemn representations against remarks made by officials and politicians from the countries and organizations summoned regarding the conviction of Lai, and asked them to respect China's sovereignty and refrain from interfering in Hong Kong SAR’s internal affairs.
