BEIJING -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday offered congratulations on the National Day of Thailand.

In a congratulatory message to Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua, Xi said that over the past year, Thailand has made steady progress in its socioeconomic development, continuously improved its people's living standards, and significantly enhanced its international influence.

He voiced confidence that under the guardianship of the Thai king, Thailand will achieve even greater progress in its national development.

As this year marks the 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic ties and the "Golden Jubilee of China-Thailand Friendship", Xi said that during the Thai king's recent state visit to China, he met with the king and Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana and had an in-depth exchange of views on further advancing the building of a China-Thailand community with a shared future, and reached important consensus.

Xi said that he attaches great importance to the development of China-Thailand relations and prizes the traditional friendship with the Thai royal family.

The Chinese president voiced willingness to work with the Thai king to jointly strengthen the guidance for developing bilateral ties, carry forward the friendship characterized as "China and Thailand are as close as one family", and deepen the bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperation, in a joint effort to write a new chapter of building a China-Thailand community with a shared future in the new era, bring more benefits to the two peoples, and make greater contribution to peace, stability, development and prosperity in the world.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Friday sent a congratulatory message to Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand.

In his message, Li said that China and Thailand are good relatives, good friends and good partners, adding that this year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the "Golden Jubilee of China-Thailand Friendship".
