Macao sets new records for inbound travel during Golden Week

Offering diverse travel experiences, Macao logged 1.144 million visitor arrivals during the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays from Oct 1 to 8, setting records for both daily averages and single-day passenger volumes during the holiday period.

Throughout this holiday break, the average daily influx of visitors reached 143,000, with Oct 4 witnessing 191,000 arrivals, both achieving record-breaking numbers, according to preliminary data from the Macao Special Administrative Region Government.

Of these visitors, 943,000 were from the Chinese mainland, 128,000 from Hong Kong, 16,000 from Taiwan, and 57,000 from international markets.

Macao's hotels recorded an average occupancy rate of 87.9 percent, peaking at 93.5 percent on Oct 2. The average price for hotel rooms during the holiday was approximately 1,698.8 Macao patacas ($212), marking a 7.8 percent year-on-year decrease.

To enrich visitor experiences and stimulate consumption, the SAR staged a variety of events and activities over the holiday break, including a grand international fireworks display contest, a related performance gala, and diversified community tourism activities.

The government also expanded the temporary pedestrian zones in popular tourist areas to include Taipa Old Village and the vicinity of the Ruins of St. Paul's, implementing special traffic arrangements to manage crowd control.

The Macao Grand Prix Museum was a popular attraction during the holiday, welcoming a total of 8,462 visitors.
