A half marathon is set to take place at Songshan Lake Science City (松山湖科学城) in Dongguan, Guangdong, on Nov 30, coinciding with the full bloom of the floss silk trees around the lake.
Famous for the European-castle-style office compound of Huawei, the science city — also known as Songshan Lake High-Tech Zone (松山湖高新区) — is home to an industrial cluster valued at over 100 billion yuan, focusing on next-generation information technology and intelligent connected vehicles.
A total of 10,000 spots are available for the half marathon, which will follow a trail that offers views of both high-tech office buildings and natural scenery. The registration fee is 178 yuan, according to a WeChat public account of the high-tech zone.
A 5-km “fun run” will also be held, with 3,000 spots available for a registration fee of 98 yuan.
Those who wish to join can scan the QR code to register for both events until Sept 23.
