HK to experience total lunar eclipse on Sept 7

HONG KONG - A total lunar eclipse will take place in Hong Kong from late at night on Sept 7 until the early hours of the following morning.

The eclipse will begin at 11:26 pm on Sept 7. The moon will start entering the umbra of the Earth one hour later, according to a Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government statement on Friday.

It will be completely engulfed in the umbra at 1:30 am, marking the beginning of the total eclipse. The maximum eclipse will occur at 2:12 am, and the moon will begin its exit from the umbra at 2:53 am.

The total eclipse is expected to last for one hour and 23 minutes.
