Police in Jiangning district of Nanjing, Jiangsu province, denied rumors that a 60-year-old Nanjing man dressed as a woman and engaged in intimate acts with over 1,000 people.

The case gained widespread attention on Chinese social media after unverified posts claimed a man dubbed "the Red Old Man" had engaged in over 1,691 such acts. Police have clarified that these figures are not accurate, and investigations are still underway, according to a report from Legal Daily on Monday.

The police released a statement on Tuesday, saying they had detained a 38-year-old man surnamed Jiao for allegedly secretly filming and sharing explicit videos online. A resident had reported that private videos had been unlawfully circulated on the internet. Following the tip, police launched an investigation and detained the suspect on Saturday.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that Jiao disguised himself as a woman to engage in sexual activities with multiple men after moving to Nanjing from another province. He covertly filmed these encounters and distributed the videos online.
