HONG KONG - Residents enthusiastically gathered on Tuesday to participate in flag-raising ceremonies and a variety of community events, celebrating the 28th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.

Waving national flags and flags of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region with smiles on their faces, residents came out in droves to celebrate the SAR's birthday.

Besides discounts at restaurants, they enjoyed cheap tickets for some of the city’s major attractions and free museum visits and tram rides.
