HONG KONG - Everyday life in Hong Kong went back to normal on Thursday as Tropical Storm Toraji weakened and gradually departed from the city.

The No 8 Northeast Gale or Storm signal, which was in place for 11 hours, was downgraded to the Strong Wind Signal No 3 at 10:20 am on Thursday, the Hong Kong Obversatory said.

Residents crowded the city's famous metro transport system to go back to work after the typhoon warning signal was lowered while afternoon classes resumed.
