Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po has proposed that the first Asian version of South Summit be held in Hong Kong to further boost the city’s innovation and technology vibe.
He made the remarks on Sunday when he visited Spain Startup, the organizer of the innovation and entrepreneurship event South Summit, and met its president Maria Benjumea in Madrid, the Spanish capital.
Spain Startup indicated that it is considering organizing an Asian version of the South Summit.
Chan said that Hong Kong would welcome the chance to host the event and to attract startups and investors from the Chinese mainland, particularly the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, as well as the broader Asian region.
