Hong Kong largely returned to normality with the city’s forecaster canceling all tropical cyclone warning signals at 4:20 am on Saturday as Super Typhoon Yagi moved towards the northern part of Vietnam.

At 10 am, Yagi was centered about 220 kilometers east-southeast of Hanoi and forecast to move west-northwest at about 15 km per hour across Beibu Wan, the Hong Kong Observatory said in a 9:45 am bulletin.

The outer rainbands of Super Typhoon Yagi are bringing showers and thunderstorms to the coast of Guangdong.

Locally, there will be showers and a few squally thunderstorms on Saturday and showers will be heavy at times, said the HKO, which issued the Strong Monsoon Signal while canceling the T3 signal at 4:20 am.

Winds are still strong offshore and on high ground and will moderate gradually, it added.

With the typhoon departing Hong Kong and heading towards mainland China’s Hainan province, the observatory downgraded its typhoon warning to No. 3 at 12:40 pm on Friday.
