Firefighters battle chemical leak in Yuen Long

HONG KONG – Firefighters rushed in the early hours of Sunday to contain a chemical leak at an oil depot in Yuen Long 

The incident occurred in one of the oil tanks on Wang Lok Street in Yuen Long at 12:52 am, according to a statement from Hong Kong Fire Services Department.

It urged members of the public who were affected by the smoke and an unusual odor carried by the wind to close their doors and windows and stay calm.

Local media reported that one of the tanks apparently overheated and the firefighters sprayed it with water to cool it down. A girl also felt unwell due to the strange odor from the leak and was treated.
