NPP district councilors vow to help stimulate local economy

District councilors from the New People’s Party in Hong Kong said on Tuesday that they are committed to fulfilling the duties of the roles that residents entrusted to them, and they emphasized their dedication to stimulate regional economic activities.

On Jan 1, all 470 members of the seventh-term District Councils took their oath of office, pledging to uphold the Basic Law and bear allegiance to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China.

Ho also focuses on encouraging more women to actively participate in community development. Although women often face challenges with balancing work and family responsibilities, female participation is important in driving the local economy forward, Ho said.

Kam Man-fung, a district councilor representing Tuen Mun and the chairman of the Tuen Mun District Fire Safety Committee, said he suggests building a private hospital in Tuen Mun. He said the initiative would address the increasing demand for medical services in the region and provide residents with more choices.

Joey Lee, a district councilor from the Wan Chai district, expressed his commitment to improve public transportation in the region he represents.

Lee noted the severe traffic congestion during peak hours and proposed optimizing bus routes to alleviate the problem. He also emphasized the potential for developing the coastal economy in Wan Chai.

Cheung Man-ka, a district councilor from Tsuen Wan, emphasized the importance of boosting youth employment in the regional level to drive economic growth.
