HONG KONG – A 56-year-old man died after a minivan collided with a double-decker bus in Tsing Yi on Wednesday morning, police said.
Police arrested the driver of the light goods vehicle for drug driving and dangerous driving causing death after he failed the Rapid Oral Fluid Test. The 60-your-old driver of the bus was brought to Princess Margaret Hospital after he sustained multiple injuries.
Investigators said the incident happened at around 10:57 am while the minivan was travelling along Ching Hong Road towards Tsing Yi Interchange with a 56-year-old male passenger on board.
While approaching near Ching Chung House, Cheung Ching Estate, it reportedly lost control, rammed into a kerb and turned on its die. It then swerved to the opposite traffic lane and collided with the bus travelling towards Tsing Yi Road West.

Sustaining serious multiple body injuries, the van passenger was taken to Yan Chai Hospital in unconscious state and he died at 11:48 am, police said.
The minivan driver, who was also injured, is being detained for further enquiries while the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South conducts an investigation.
