HONG KONG - Thousands of friends, fans and family members dressed in black and paid tribute to music icon CoCo Lee with their final blessings on Tuesday.

Overflowing into the streets outside the Hong Kong Funeral Home in North Point for her funeral service, many could not hold back their tears for the world-renowned Hong Kong-born diva, who died on July 5 in a local hospital where she had been in a coma following a suicide attempt due to depression.

Being the first Chinese singer to break into the US market, CoCo Lee is known for her solid singing techniques and energetic image on screen and onstage, gaining a large fan base over the years with her dazzling career.

CoCo Lee released a number of albums, and many of her songs became popular. For example, she sang A Love Before Time for the movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which she performed at the Oscars in 2001.
