China and India will continue to maintain close contact to resolve border issues and maintain peace and stability in the region, the Ministry of National Defense said in a statement on Tuesday.

On Sunday, military representatives from China and India conducted their 18th round of corps commander-level talks at the Chushul-Moldo border meeting point on the Chinese side. Both sides exchanged opinions in a "friendly and candid" manner, the statement added.

The ministry said both sides agreed to stay in close contact and maintain dialogue through military and diplomatic channels to accelerate the resolution of border issues between the two countries.
