HONG KONG - Hong Kong's medical sector got a talent boost on Monday, as a batch of healthcare professionals from Guangdong province arrived in the city, as part of the Hospital Authority's Greater Bay Area Healthcare Talents Visiting Programme.
Three doctors and 70 nureses from the province arrived at the West Kowloon Station and received a warm welcome during a ceremony. The Hospital Authority's chairman Henry Fan Hung-ling and chief executive Tony Ko Pat-sing attended the event to greet the healthcare team.
Last week, seven physicians and three traditional Chinese medicine doctors already arrived under the program.
The HA announced the talent program last September to foster the development of healthcare sector between the mainland and the city and broaden the talent pool in GBA in the long run. The participating doctors and nurses will serve in the city for one year and about ten months respectively. The HA's Fan said the program will expand, with three hundred more nurses joining within the coming two years.
