HONG KONG – Xia Baolong, head of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, will visit Hong Kong from April 13 to 18, the special administrative region government said on Tuesday.
Xia, who earlier served as one of the vice-chairmen of the 13th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), will attend the opening ceremony of the Hong Kong National Security Education Day activities organized by the SAR government on April 15.

In a statement, Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu extended his warmest welcome and gratitude for Xia's visit on behalf of the HKSAR.

In 2015, the nation adopted the National Security Law of the People's Republic of China and announced April 15 as the National Security Education Day in a bid to raise public awareness on this.
A slew of activities will be held in Hong Kong to mark the day this year. The opening ceremony will feature a seminar covering themes including the challenges of financial security and cyber security and countermeasures and the national security challenges in today’s international situation and countermeasures.
The city’s Security Bureau and the disciplined services departments and auxiliary forces will jointly host a flag-raising ceremony at the Hong Kong Police College in Wong Chuk Hang on Saturday morning.
The disciplined forces will also hold open days at their training schools.

A citywide roving exhibition on national security education will run from April 15 through June 30.
Also, 60,000 new national security picture books will be distributed to primary schools in the city along with national security workshops which will see the participation of 30 primary schools.
